Youm-e-Ali: Observance in Sindh on March 22

The Sindh government has declared a vacation for all educational institutions throughout the province on March 22 in observance of Youm-e-Ali.

The School Education Department announced that all public and private schools will be closed on March 22 to commemorate the occasion.

The martyrdom day (Youm-e-Ali) of the fourth holy caliph of Islam, Ali ibn Abi Talib, is commemorated on the 21st of Ramazan nationwide with profound devotion and respect.

Hazrat Ali sustained mortal injuries from an assault by the Kharijite renegade Ibn Muljim on the 19th of Ramazan in 40 AH (661 CE) while en route to the Fajr prayer in the Iraqi city of Kufa. He embraced martyrdom on 21st of Ramazan.
