A 10-year-old niece dies from shock following an attack; a journalist is shot dead in Ghotki

Journalist Tufail Rind, the general secretary of the Mirpur Mathelo Press Club, was assassinated in an armed attack on Wednesday, and his niece, who was on the scene, unfortunately passed away from shock.

Police said Rind was shot by unidentified attackers while he was en route to drop off children at school. In Mirpur Mathelo, the attack happened on Jirwar Road close to Masoo Wah.

Rind was slain immediately, according to the police, and his body was taken to DHQ Hospital Mirpur Mathelo. The incident is currently being investigated.

Murad Ali Shah, the chief minister of Sindh, expressed sorrow for Rind’s passing and claimed that attacks on journalists are an assault on press freedom. The CM has asked the Inspector General of Police to provide a report on the incident.

Rina, Rind’s 10-year-old niece, died after the incident, allegedly from trauma and panic. Rina was riding the motorcycle with her uncle on their way to school.

After seeing the gunshot, the child got extremely scared, according to the police, and was unable to handle the emotional trauma.
