According to Miller, the US is against violent protests like May 9.
Matthew Miller, a spokesperson for the US State Department, made this statement during a news briefing.
Rep for the State Department Matthew Miller responded that the US took the same position globally when asked if the May 9 protests in Pakistan were comparable to the US riots on January 6.
At Monday’s press conference, Miller stated, “So our thoughts are the same anywhere in the world, which is we support legitimate, free expression, including the right to protest, the right to peaceful assembly, and we oppose violent actions, vandalism, looting, and arson.”
Miller stated that Pakistanis have endured a significant deal of suffering at the hands of terrorism when asked if the US supported military action against the TTP in Afghanistan.
Thus, the victims of terrorism in Pakistan have suffered immensely. In order to protect regional security, we have a common interest in doing so, he stated.
In order to improve regional security, he continued, the US has maintained constant contact with Pakistan.
Through our yearly high-level counterterrorism dialogue, among other regular interactions, we collaborate with a variety of Pakistani civilian institutions and the Government of Pakistan to find ways to enhance regional security and develop capability.
