According to Musadik, ten monthly cargoes were part of the Qatar gas deals.
Negotiations on a further contract with Qatar have been set for the following year, Malik stated at a meeting of the National Assembly’s Standing Committee on Petroleum, which is chaired by Mustafa Shah.
“We had long-term gas agreements with Qatar,” he stated, stating that a deal had been in place at a figure of $13.37 per MMBtu. The arrangement, he said, had been costly but essential.
Five LNG cargoes have been postponed, the minister revealed. “We delayed five LNG shipments,” Malik said. He clarified that Pakistan was free to postpone shipments and pick them up when needed under the terms of the arrangement.
