According to the PM, sentiment is improving locally as inflation declines.
The government was authorized by the federal cabinet on Monday to submit a review petition against the Supreme Court’s ruling prohibiting the importation of monosodium glutamate (Ajinomoto), also referred to as Chinese salt.
The decision was made based on the ministry of commerce’s proposal and the findings of the special committee of experts that was established to track the effects of monosodium glutamate on human health.
According to the report, monosodium glutamate is safe for human health. Pakistan Scientific and Industrial Research, the National Agriculture Research Center, the National University of Sciences and Technology, the Institute of Food and Nutritional Sciences, the Federal Ministry of National Food Safety and Research, the Pakistan Standards and Quality Control Authority, and the Board of Investment were among the organizations represented on the committee. It was here that Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif presided over the federal cabinet meeting.
Additionally, the cabinet approved the National Prevention of Violent Extremism Policy 2024 on the Interior Ministry’s advice. Furthermore, the interior ministry’s proposal to form the Islamabad Central Business District Development Authority was approved in principle by the cabinet.
On the recommendation of the Ministry of Education and Professional Training, the cabinet also approved the extension of the Memorandum of Understandings concerning the chairs of the University of Cambridge, Saint Antony’s College, Oxford, Jordan, Peking University, China, Hydal Berg, and Pakistan in Germany.
Additionally, Dr. Habib ur Rehman and Dr. Kamran Ansari were nominated as subject experts by the cabinet on the recommendation of the Ministry of Education and Professional Training. Additionally, Dr. Mumtaz Muhammad Shah and Dr. Muhammad Ahmed Farooqui were nominated as subject experts by the board of governors of the University of Balochistan Quetta’s Center of Excellence in Mineralogy.
