Allowing PTI to host a power show in Islamabad

According to the information provided, the state attorney notified the Islamabad High Court that a public meeting in the federal capital had been granted permission.

The development followed the filing of a contempt plea in the Islamabad High Court (IHC) about the suspension of the No Objection Certificate (NOC) for the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Islamabad power show.

The coordinator of Tehreek-e-Tahafuz-e-Aein, Khanzaada Hussain, filed a request to challenge Tarnol Jalsa’s NOC suspension.

The NOC was cancelled in defiance of the court order, so the petition asked the judge to find the officials in contempt of court.

The petition claims that on July 4, the Islamabad Deputy Commissioner notified the court that PTI had received a NOC.

The petitioner also stated that Amir Mughal, the leader of the PTI, was later detained by police outside the DC Office while escorting the officials to the location of the power show.

The petition also said that PTI learned of the development through a tweet from the Islamabad Police announcing the cancellation of the Islamabad power show NOC.

The petitioner received a letter from Islamabad’s Deputy Commissioner advising him of the NOC cancellation shortly after the tweet.

A day before the planned meeting, the Chief Commissioner of Islamabad had earlier suspended the No-Objection Certificate (NOC) that PTI had been granted for a public assembly.

Security services voiced their concerns about possible threats related to the march during a meeting presided over by the Chief Commissioner of Islamabad, before the decision was taken.

The PTI was authorised by the federal capital’s district administration to host a public meeting close to Tarnol Chowk on July 6.

The application for the issuing of a NOC for a meeting was resolved by the Islamabad High Court (IHC) following the issuance of the NOC. The appeal for permission to hold the PTI meeting in the federal capital was heard by Justice Babar Sattar of the Islamabad High Court.
