Amid political ploys, Imran Khan urges Punjab assembly committee members to quit.

According to PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan, Imran Khan, the founder of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), ordered party members to quit from all standing committees of the Punjab Assembly right away.

Barrister Gohar and Senator Ali Zafar told reporters outside Adiala Jail on Thursday that the PTI is currently in charge of Punjab’s 14 standing committees. He claimed that as part of the party’s changing political strategy, Imran Khan personally gave the resignation command.

This action comes after PTI legislators resigned from Senate and National Assembly standing committees on Khan’s directives last month. In an indication of a sustained political battle against the current administration, the party also intends to boycott the next round of by-elections.

The former premier was in good health and in a good mood, according to Barrister Gohar, who said that his encounter with Imran Khan was the first he had seen in a few days. He also gave an update on the Toshakhana Two case trial, which is now over. A verdict is anticipated by the middle of next week, and closing arguments are scheduled for October 13. Gohar denounced the case as one of a number of “bogus” and politically driven legal actions meant to put Khan behind bars.

Barrister Gohar disclosed that following the nomination of the new chief minister, the PTI founder will complete cabinet appointments on the provincial level. He denied reports of any internal party divisions and underlined that Khan himself had picked the newly appointed KP chief minister.

Ali Amin Gandapur, the chief minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, resigned, which caused a stir. According to sources, Gandapur resigned last night outside the Governor House gate. Though he is now in Islamabad, Governor Faisal Karim Kundi stated that he has not yet received the official resignation and will carefully study it after it is presented.

The PTI founder plans to keep the current cabinet in place for the time being, with any necessary adjustments to be considered later, Senator Ali Zafar added. He reaffirmed Khan’s belief that the chief minister’s succession is a legitimate procedure and cautioned that any interference will spark fervent demonstrations.

The PTI’s latest actions highlight its continued defiance in the face of growing legal and political pressure as it looks to increase its power before important elections.
