Among the 500 Most Influential Muslims in 2025 are PM Shehbaz and Gen. Asim Munir.
Several Pakistanis have been named among the 500 Most Influential Muslims in 2025, including Nobel laureate Malala Yousafzai, Army Chief Asim Munir, former Prime Minister Imran Khan, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, and religious scholar Mufti Taqi Usmani.
The most powerful Muslims worldwide are ranked in an annual magazine called “The Muslim 500: The World’s 500 Most Influential Muslims,” which was first released in 2009.
In Amman, Jordan, the Royal Islamic Strategic Studies Center compiles the journal.
It determines the degree to which specific Muslim leaders have cultural, ideological, economic, political, or other influence over the Ummah in order to effect change that will significantly affect Muslims worldwide.
Several Pakistanis, including philanthropists, military and civilian leaders, and individuals renowned for their outstanding contributions in a variety of fields, have been included in the journal this year.
According to the article, Shehbaz Sharif was elected as Pakistan’s 24th prime minister in March 2024 after serving as the country’s 23rd prime minister (2022–23) following a no-confidence motion against former Prime Minister Imran Khan.
The name of Army Chief General Asim Munir was on the list.
In addition to becoming the first army chief in Pakistani history to be a Hafiz Qur’an, the journal stated that Asim was descended from a devout and learned family.
“He oversaw both of Pakistan’s top military intelligence organizations.”
Special Recognition
In the Muslim 500, former Prime Minister Imran Khan received an honorary mention.
According to the statement, Imran Khan was elected prime minister of Pakistan in 2018 with high hopes of advancing the nation’s governance, accountability, and anti-corruption agenda. Both domestically and among the sizable and influential Pakistani diaspora, Khan continues to enjoy enormous popular support. His difficulties are viewed as a natural byproduct of attempting to reform a corrupt system.
Additionally, Imran Khan’s name was listed among the “Top Social Media Statistics of The Muslim 500,” taking 21st place, and Atif Aslam came in at 34th.
Notably, Imran Khan is the oldest person on the list of The Muslim 500’s Top Social Media Statistics, standing at 72 years old.
Mufti Muhammad Taqi Usmani, Maulana Tariq Jameel, Maulana Nazur ur-Rahman, and Muhammad Ilyas Attar Qadri, all of whom are Pakistani religious leaders, were listed in the book as some of the most prominent Muslims worldwide.
Among the other Pakistanis listed were Nobel laureate Malala Yousafzai, internationally recognized writer, filmmaker, and activist Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, the “Queen of Sufi mystic singing,” Abida Parveen, Na’atkhuwan Owais Raza Qadri, and humanitarian professor Dr. Adibul Hasan Rizvi.
