An earthquake shakes Swat and surrounding areas

The epicentre of the earthquake was located in the Hindu Kush Mountain range of Afghanistan, with an estimated magnitude of 4.5 on the Richter scale and a depth of 151 kilometres, according to the seismological centre.

Thankfully, no significant casualties or damage have been reported. Frantically reciting Kalma-e-Tayyaba, people emerged from their homes.

A panic attack broke out among the populace last week when seismic activity was detected in numerous parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province (KP), including Shangla, Malakand, and Swat.

The epicentre of the 5. magnitude earthquake was located in Afghanistan’s Hindu Kush region, and the depth of the earthquake was measured at 104 kilometres, according to the National Seismic Monitoring Centre (NSMC).

Islamabad and several other towns in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) and Punjab were rocked on Thursday morning in August by an earthquake with a magnitude of 5.4.

Islamabad, Swat, Malakand, Mansehra, Swabi, Mardan, Peshawar, Chitral, and other KP cities all reported feeling earthquakes, according to the National Seismic Monitoring Centre (NSMC).

There were additional earthquake shocks in Punjabi cities of Sargodha, Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Chiniot, and Multan.

“The National Seismic Monitoring Centre in Islamabad stated that the depth was 215 kilometres and the centre was the Hindukush mountain range in Afghanistan.” But nothing was recorded in its wake in terms of casualties or damage to property.
