An NAB officer was discovered deceased in a guest house near Islamabad.

In a guest house in the G6 area of Islamabad, a top National Accountability Bureau (NAB) officer was discovered deceased under suspicious circumstances.

Investigating a number of high-profile corruption cases was the responsibility of Grade 19 officer Waqas Ahmed, who was working as an extra director at the NAB’s head office.

Waqas Ahmed’s body was found in a closed room with no obvious signs of assault, according to Islamabad police. His cause of death won’t be known until a post-mortem examination is completed, and the circumstances surrounding his demise are still unknown.

Examinations and well-known cases
Lahore resident Waqas Ahmed was linked to some of Pakistan’s most significant corruption probes. He was instrumental in the investigation of the Haris Steel Mills case and the OGRA affair. He was also a member of the NAB squad that detained former OGRA chairman Tauqir Sadiq in a fraud case worth billions of rupees.

A family reports emotional tension.
Ahmed’s family informed authorities that he had been experiencing extreme mental stress in recent days, despite preliminary investigations indicating no physical injuries. But it’s still unclear if he committed himself or if he was murdered.

Forensic specialists are investigating the scene as part of a comprehensive probe by law enforcement agencies into the unexplained death. In addition, authorities are examining CCTV footage and interviewing anyone who could have interacted with the officer prior to his passing.
