Arabian Sea Depression: PMD about 1060 kilometers southwest of Karachi

As per a report by PMD, the Arabian Sea Depression is currently located approximately 1060 km southwest of Karachi, in the central Arabian Sea, close to latitudes 15.6N and 64.8E.

Over the last twelve hours, the depression traveled west-northwest and was situated 1080 km south of Ormara and 1110 km southeast of Gwadar.

According to Pakistan Meteorological Department’s cyclone warning center in Karachi, the system is expected to continue west-northwestward approaching the coast of Oman.

The system’s center is anticipated to see squally winds for the next two days, with gusts of up to 50 km/h.

Fishing enthusiasts have been cautioned not to venture too far out to sea.

This system has not threatened any part of Pakistan’s coastal regions. Updates will be provided by PMD’s cyclone warning center, which is said to be monitoring the system.

The name “Dana,” as suggested by Qatar, will be applied to this system should it become a storm.

On Monday, most of Sindh’s districts will continue to experience hot, dry weather. However, there is a chance that Hyderabad, Karachi, Tharparkar, Nagarparkar, Umarkot, Mithi, Badin, Thatta, Sujawal, and the surrounding areas will experience occasional thunderstorms, rains, and gusty winds along with dust storms.

Along with the possibility of windstorms and thunder on Tuesday, the majority of these places are also expected to have rain tomorrow.

According to meteorological officials, on Monday and Tuesday, October 14 and 15, the depression is predicted to strengthen into a tropical cyclone and then move across the middle Arabian Sea.
