Arrest warrants for Shireen Mazari suspended in crimes related to May 9.

Mazari challenged the issuance of arrest warrants, asserting, “I have attended every hearing, yet warrants for my arrest were issued.”

The court ascribed the warrants to a typographical error. The Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) adjudicated the cases and annulled Mazari’s arrest warrants.

Mazari informed the court that she received calls from police stations the prior night, notifying her of the arrest warrants. Nonetheless, the court’s ruling has currently suspended those warrants.

An anti-terrorism court previously granted bail to Shireen Mizari in various charges of damage and assaults on government structures pertaining to May 9.

ATC Judge Malik Ijaz adjudicated the bail application of the former minister and approved bail contingent upon Shireen Mizari’s personal surety bonds.

Shireen Mizari was implicated in fourteen distinct cases concerning the May 9 vandalism.

Shortly after the May 9 riots last year, the former federal minister declared his resignation from PTI and politics entirely.

On May 23, 2023, Shireen Mazari denounced the disturbances of May 9, asserting her longstanding opposition to violence.

She justified her decision to exit politics due to declining health following her 12-day detention after the May 9 riots, during which demonstrators mobilized nationwide in response to the arrest of former Prime Minister Imran Khan at the Islamabad court.
