Arriving in Iran for the 28th ECO summit is the deputy prime minister.

In order to attend the 28th meeting of the ECO Council of Ministers today, Senator Muhammad Ishaq Dar, the deputy prime minister and foreign minister of Pakistan, has traveled to Mashhad, Iran.

As per the official press release, the Deputy Prime Minister/Foreign Minister Senator Mr. Muhammad Ishaq Dar was cordially welcomed by Mr. Muhammad Mudassir Tipu, the Ambassador of Pakistan in Iran; Mr. Muhammad Ali Nabipur, the Deputy Governor General for Political Affairs of Khorasan Razavi Province; and Mr. Masoomeh Far, the Director General of MFA Mashhad.

ECO’s Council of Ministers (COM) meeting will be attended by Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar. It is the highest policy and decision-making body of the ECO and is made up of the foreign ministers of the member nations. It meets in both regular and special sessions.

Mr. Abbas Aragchi, Iran’s foreign minister, will preside over the ECO’s Council of Ministers (COM) session.

H.E. Mr. Jeyhon Bayramov, the foreign minister of Azerbaijan; H.E. Mr. Murat Nurtleu, the minister of foreign affairs and deputy prime minister of Kazakhstan; H.E. Mr. Sirojiddin Muhriddin, the foreign minister of Tajikistan; H.E. Prof. Burhanettin Duran, the deputy foreign minister of Türkiye; H.E. Mr. Ahmet Gurbanov, the deputy foreign minister of Turkmenistan; H.E. Mr. Bobur Usmanav, the deputy foreign minister of Uzbekistan; and H.E. Mr. Sydykov Turdakun, the permanent representative of Kyrgyzstan.

Iran indicated earlier this year that it would like to increase imports, with Pakistan acquiring grains, beef, and other agricultural goods.

Ishaq Dar, the deputy prime minister, emphasized in a separate development that the administration would put national interests first and discourage outside intervention in the Iran-Pakistan gas project.

When asked about the Iran-Pakistan gas pipeline, the deputy prime minister responded that Pakistan, being an independent nation, would make choices that would benefit the country and would not permit outside influence to interfere with its international commitments.

Both nations emphasized during the visit how crucial it is to work together in the energy sector, particularly electricity commerce, power transmission lines, and the Iran-Pakistan Gas Pipeline Project.
