At Zoomtopia, Zoom introduces enhanced AI functions.

At its Zoomtopia conference on Wednesday, Zoom unveiled new products, such as an improved AI companion that can be used with a variety of meeting apps.
AI-powered meeting scheduling, user-like AI avatars, and the ability to submit personal notes are all new features in this version. With these additions, Zoom hopes to improve its standing versus productivity suites and specialized meeting startups.
An AI bot that can record and transcribe Zoom sessions has long been offered by the firm. Nonetheless, rivals like Read AI, Circleback, Fireflies, Granola, and Otter have made notable strides in cross-application meeting note-taking. In order to address this issue, Zoom’s AI companion now allows note-taking during in-person meetings and integrates with other platforms, such as Microsoft Teams and Google Meet.
Similar to Granola, Zoom has implemented a tool that lets users take notes during meetings, which AI automatically organizes and expands. Additionally, the upgrade offers cross-platform search capabilities, allowing users to access data from Microsoft and Google environments.
Users will identify time slots that work for everyone with the help of new calendar tools. Additionally, by submitting a fresh “free up my time” request, the AI companion can recommend meetings that could be avoided. In order to resolve scheduling issues, the calendar tool Clockwise introduced a comparable service last year.
In addition to a group AI assistant for collaborative support, proactive meeting recommendations will include suggested tasks and agenda items to help with preparation.
During video calls, Zoom will roll out photorealistic avatars that imitate user movements. Earlier this year, CEO Eric Yuan displayed these avatars, which are meant to be used in situations where users are not “camera-ready.” Corporate IT departments may decide to disable the capability due to ongoing worries about its misuse, including deepfake impersonation.
By the end of the year, customers should be able to access the avatars and other new services.
In addition to AI avatars, hosts will be able to employ Zoom Clips, an asynchronous video tool, to welcome attendees in waiting areas and outline the purpose of meetings. AI will also enable new real-time translation features.
Zoom is showcasing its AI companion with an updated online interface. Other AI-powered capabilities include a research function and a writing helper for creating emails and papers.
Additional enhancements include a new video management tool to organize video assets, greater bit rate and 60 frames per second support for Zoom meetings, and bespoke AI agents that utilize Model Context Protocol (MCP).
