Balochistan has reported one more incidence of polio.
The National Polio Testing Laboratory also determined that the latest case is caused by the wild poliovirus type 1, as per the information. The case was confirmed in a little girl.
Balochistan has reported the greatest number of polio cases this year, with 16 verified incidences, while the overall number of cases in Pakistan has reached 28. This is according to NIH.
Two further cases of poliovirus were previously reported from Sindh. An official from the National Institute of Health, Islamabad’s regional reference laboratory for polio eradication stated that the cases were verified in the districts of Karachi East and Sujawal.
“This is the first case that both districts have reported this year,” he stated.
As one of the few nations still on the planet that hasn’t succeeded in eradicating polio, the experts argue that the discovery of this new case highlights the persistent challenge Pakistan faces in doing so.
The virus continues to afflict children despite widespread vaccination campaigns and awareness-raising efforts by the government and international organizations that deal with health issues. This is especially true in areas where access to healthcare and immunization services is limited.
Parents are being urged by health professionals affiliated with both federal and provincial governments to make sure their children obtain the polio vaccine, as it is essential in stopping the spread of this crippling illness.
Every child deserves access to the vaccine and essential healthcare services, which is why the government and health groups are making unceasing efforts to reach them, particularly in isolated and underprivileged areas.
