Before the ECP committee, the former commissioner Rawalpindi “records” a statement.
Sources claim that the former commissioner received a notification from the ECP yesterday requesting that he make a statement in front of the committee.
Statements from Returning Officers (ROs) and District Returning Officers (DROs) of the relevant constituencies were also recorded by the ECP committee.
The Rawalpindi division’s 26 provincial assembly seats and 13 National Assembly constituencies’ DROs and ROs provided testimony before the committee, which was chaired by a senior ECP member.
According to those with knowledge of the event, the Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) also filed the transcript of a news conference held by former Rawalpindi Commissioner Liaquat Ali Chatha, in which Chatha accused the Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa and the ECP of being involved in “election rigging.”
The sources further mentioned that written comments had been provided to the committee by DROs and ROs. The high-level group has begun compiling the report that it will present to the ECP.
Claims made by former commissioner Rawalpindi
Liaquat Ali Chatha, the commissioner of Rawalpindi who resigned from his position, made a startling “discovery” on Saturday when he admitted to being engaged in the manipulation of the Pakistan general elections of 2024. This added another degree of controversy to the already contentious votes.
