Bushra Bibi requests that the court move her from Banigala to Adiala Jail.
The wife of imprisoned PTI founder chairman and former prime minister Imran Khan, Bushra Bibi, has asked the Islamabad High Court (IHC) to transfer her from sub-jail at her Banigala residence to Adiala Jail.
Bushra Bibi received two prison terms: seven years for her unlawful marriage and fourteen years for her involvement in the Toshakhana crime.
Following the announcement of the Toshakhana judgement, she was court-arrested in the Adiala Jail; however, the authorities designated her Banigala apartment as a sub-jail and relocated her there.
The wife of Imran Khan has now filed an IHC, asking the court to order her transfer to Adial Jail and to nullify the notice designating her Banigala property as a sub-jail.
On January 31, 2023, the Islamabad Chief Commissioner issued a notification designating Imran Khan’s Banigala mansion as a sub-jail.
Through attorneys Salman Safdar, Usman Gul, and Khalid Chaudhry, Bushra Bibi filed a petition before the IHC requesting that the court move her to Adiala Jail in accordance with the first ruling in the Toshakhana case.
According to Bushra Bibi, on January 31, 2023, she was sentenced to 14 years in jail in the Toshakhana case. “I arrived at Adiala jail and turned myself in at the jail superintendent’s office,” she said.
In his argument, Bushra told the court that the police had taken her to Banigala after designating it as a sub-jail, rather than placing her in Adiala Jail. She argued that she hadn’t made the administration aware of any such request.
