CJP Qazi Faez Isa commences chamber proceedings
Justice Qazi Faez Isa was sworn in as the 29th Chief Justice of Pakistan on September 17 of the previous year, succeeding Umar Ata Bandial upon his retirement.
CJP Faez was inaugurated by the former president Dr. Arif Alvi during a ceremony in Islamabad.
CJP Qazi Faez Isa will compose judgments during his chamber work, as he is scheduled to retire on Friday, October 25.
The chamber of Justice Mansoor Ali Shah has been relocated to Court Number 1, according to sources.
A 12-member Parliamentary Committee will convene today to deliberate on the candidates for the new Chief Justice of Pakistan among the three most senior judges of the Supreme Court: Justice Mansoor Ali Shah, Justice Munib Akhtar, and Justice Yahya Afridi.
The 12-member Special Parliamentary Committee, established to supervise the appointment, has representatives from both the government and opposition factions.
The committee comprises political personalities such Senator Azam Nazir Tarar, Khawaja Asif, Ahsan Iqbal, and Shaista Pervaiz. Additional members comprise PPP leaders Farooq Naek, Raja Pervaiz Ashraf, and Syed Naveed Qamar.
Prominent legal scholars Barrister Ali Zafar, Barrister Gohar, and Sahibzada Hamid Raza are members of the committee, alongside JUI-F member Kamran Murtaza and MQM-P representative Rana Ansar, who have been designated to the committee responsible for the significant appointment process of the Chief Justice of Pakistan.
