Customs Intelligence Department Dissolved by FBR

According to specifics, the FBR reorganized the Customs Intelligence and Investigation section, reducing its function to that of a monitoring agency. Additionally, personnel of Customs Intelligence no longer have the power to stop or discharge consignments.

In accordance with the Prime Minister’s instructions, the FBR Chairman has released a notification detailing organisational changes and reforms.

According to this strategy, Customs Intelligence will no longer be able to carry out sting operations or raids.

All cases and records must be sent to the DG Enforcement right away, according to the notification, which has a deadline of November 12 for completion.

The Customs Intelligence offices in Hyderabad, Gwadar, Rawalpindi, and Multan have been closed, and the others around the nation will be closed within 10 to 15 days.

The letter states that the Director General of Enforcement now has all of the authority previously held by the Customs Intelligence section. Additionally, the DG Enforcement will receive the department’s personnel and warehouses.

Earlier in July it emerged that on the directions of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has ‘sacked’ 27 high-rank officials from their posts.

As per details, FBR removed 16 officers of grade 20 from In Land Revenue Services and 11 officers of grade 20 from Customs group on the intelligence reports.
