Due to smog, LHC issued a new directive for schools.

The directives were issued by LHC Justice Shahid Karim on Friday during a hearing on smog prevention petitions.

Children must use school-provided transportation to get to school, according to a court ruling.

The LHC bench cautioned that schools that disobey these directives risk being sealed. It further stated that no school should publish written disclaimers that release them from liability for the transportation of its children.

Within 15 days, the transport authorities were instructed by Justice Shahid Karim to develop a vehicle fitness policy. He also directed the transport department to provide fitness certificates and to conduct checks on all vehicles every three months.

It was also instructed that the department keep an extensive database of both private and public buses.

The meeting was later postponed till Tuesday in order to continue discussing petitions that were submitted by residents and other parties.

Prior to this, the Punjab government declared that parks, zoos, playgrounds, and museums would reopen, and that all outdoor activities would resume as the province’s smog levels decreased.

In this context, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) sent out a notification to resume all outdoor operations, including those of stores, marketplaces, and shopping centers.

The province-wide resumption of outdoor activities, including public and private parks, zoos, playgrounds, historical sites, monuments, museums, joy, play areas, outdoor sporting events, exhibitions, and festivals, is due to the recent improvement in the Air Quality Index.
