ECP declares PML-N’s Azhar Qayyum NA-81 winner.
In accordance with the order issued on March 11, 2024, by the Election Commission of Pakistan in case No.F.7(427)2024-Law-III(GE), the returning officer for NA-81 Gujranwala-V conducted a recount of votes. As a result of the recount, Azhar Qayyum from the PML-N party has been declared the winner with a majority of votes, as stated in the notification.
Bilal Aijaz, an independent candidate supported by PTI, was previously announced as the victor with a total of 117,717 votes, while the PML-N candidate came in second place with 109,926 votes.
Azhar Qayyum from the PML-N party made a formal request for a recount of the ballots, and the Returning Officer (RO) approved his request. Azhar Qayyum emerged as the winner in the election, defeating Bilal Aijaz, an independent candidate supported by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), by a margin of 3197 votes.
Following the recount, Azhar Qayyum obtained 110,057 votes, while Bilal Aijaz, an independent candidate supported by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), received 106,860 votes.
