EU and Pakistan discuss counterterrorism in Brussels

On Thursday, the European Union (EU) and Pakistan convened their ninth counterterrorism meeting in Brussels. As part of their broader engagement on security issues under the 2019 Strategic Engagement Plan, the two delegations talked on counterterrorism cooperation.

Both Pakistan and the European Union reaffirmed their unwavering commitment to combating terrorism and denounced it in all of its manifestations. Discussions on regional and international issues, such as the security ramifications of the circumstances in Afghanistan and other regions, such as the Middle East, were made possible by the discussion.

In multilateral forums, both sides reaffirmed the significance of close collaboration with foreign partners. The efforts of the Global Counter-Terrorism Forum, which the EU has co-chaired since 2022, and the United Nations framework are examples of this.
