Fed government provisionally approves flour exports
Exports will only be permitted for flour manufactured from imported wheat, according to a notification from the Ministry of Commerce.
The export policy order 2022 has been changed, and the flour export was permitted under the Export Facilitation Scheme 2021.
The announcement announced that a Statutory Regulatory Order (SRO) had been issued regarding “Export of wheat flour manufactured from wheat imported solely for export under the Export Facilitation Scheme, 2021.”
Conversely, some sources asserted that the nation had ample and sufficient supplies of wheat, given that the 32.1 million-ton yearly output target is expected to be met and that wheat cultivation has surpassed the objective by 1.8%.
Wheat imports were prohibited earlier by the Caretaker Federal Government of Pakistan.
Reportedly, the Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) decided against allowing wheat imports at the state level because Pakistan possesses sufficient stockpiles and its flour prices are steady.
Pakistan possesses sufficient supplies of wheat to suit its demands, according to government sources.
The ECC was briefed on wheat supplies by the Ministry of National Food Security, and the committee praised the ministry’s actions in this respect. This led to the decision.
