Fishermen in Sindh are urged to avoid the sea for five days.
KARACHI: The Sindh Fisheries Department recommended fishermen refrain from going out to sea for a period of five days on Monday.
Provincial advisor Najmi Alam stated, “The government took its decision after the Met Office issued the monsoon rain alert.”
“Heavy to extremely heavy rainfall is expected to batter Sindh between August 26 and August 30.”
An expert from Sindh stated, “The fishermen must exercise caution to avoid losses.”
Depression
The depression over eastern Rajasthan, India, has moved west-southwestward and strengthened into a deep depression, according to a monsoon notice from the PMD.
By the morning of August 29, it is anticipated to have traveled much farther to the west-southwest and have arrived in Kutch, Tharparkar, and the Arabian Sea. Strong monsoon currents are entering southeast Sindh as a result of this meteorological system, according to a statement from the Met Office.
Due to the weather system, Karachi Division may have intermittent gaps from August 27 to August 31 and wind-thunderstorms and rain with scattered heavy to isolated very severe rains.
In addition, showers are predicted until August 31 in the districts of Shaheed Benazirabad, Badin, Thatta, Hyderabad, Matiari, Umerkot, Sanghar, Jamshoro, Dadu, Qambar Shahdadkot, Larkana, Naushahro Feroze, and Tando Muhammad Khan.
Rain is also predicted for the districts of Ghotki, Sukkur Khairpur, Kashmore, Jacobabad, and Shikarpur between now and August 30.
