Five restaurants in Islamabad are closed by the FBR for submitting phony invoices.

Due to their phony bills, five well-known eateries in Islamabad were closed by the FBR Islamabad Regional Tax Office (RTO).

A news statement from the FBR stated that the action was initiated in response to citizen and consumer reports that the eateries were providing fake invoices and receipts.

This is consistent with FBR’s goal to use POS invoicing systems to enforce taxation on Tier-1 merchants and eateries.

Five restaurants in Islamabad were closed by a team of RTO Islamabad led by the Deputy Commissioner after it was determined that the claimed receipts were not real using POS tracking software. Additionally, the restaurants were fined a total of Rs. 1.5 million.

The Point of Sales Prize Scheme was introduced by FBR on October 25th, as mentioned.
At the end of this month, the scheme will be expanded to all Tier retailers and, eventually, to the entire nation. In the initial phase, it was established for Tier-1 eateries in Islamabad.

Under the scheme, individuals and customers will get a variety of monetary awards for reporting fraudulent receipts to the FBR via the Tax Asaan APP.

Upon confirming the fraudulent receipts through a predetermined process, FBR will immediately deposit the cash awards into the winners’ bank accounts.

If they are found to be issuing fraudulent receipts, the alleged Tier-1 retailers and restaurants will be closed.

The purpose of this significant undertaking is to ensure that the necessary taxes are deposited in order to discourage the culture of fraudulent bills.
