Following a vote recount, Zulfikar Bhindar of the PML-N wins the NA-79 seat.
Following a vote recount in NA-79 Gujranwala on Thursday, candidate Zulfikar Bhindar of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) has won a seat in the National Assembly.
Details show that Ehsan Ullah Virk, the candidate supported by the PTI, lost to Zulfikar Bhindar of the PML-N by a margin of 3023 votes. Following the vote tally, Ehsan Ullah Virk was able to obtain 92,581 votes, while Zulfikar Bhindar was able to acquire 95,604 votes.
In order to obtain a vote recount, Zulfikar Bhindar went to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP).
The results of the election on February 8, 2024 showed that Ehsan Ullah Virk had received 104,023 votes, while the PML-N candidate had received 99,635 votes, placing him in second place.
It is important to note that the PML-N was able to win NA-81 in Gujranwala and NA-154 in Lodhran previously after vote recounts.
