Following his resignation as head coach, Jason Gillespie criticises PCB.
Jason Gillespie, who spoke to Australian media, was disappointed that PCB had decided not to renew the contract of Tim Nielsen, his assistant coach. PCB was charged by Gillespie with inadequate management and communication.
When asked why he didn’t go on the South Africa tour, Gillespie responded, “I decided not to go because of Nielsen’s exclusion.”
Gillespie also expressed his dissatisfaction with the selection procedure, saying, “I didn’t even know the team selection details until a day before matches.”
Notwithstanding his complaints, Gillespie said, “There was great harmony among the squad,” acknowledging his close relationship with the players. Because of his warm relationship with the players, they referred to Nielsen as “Grandpa.”
As of yet, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has not addressed the accusations made by the former Australian pacer.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) officially announced Jason Gillespie’s resignation as the country’s red-ball coach on December 12.
After accepting his resignation, the PCB named Aqib Javed as the temporary red-ball coach for the Test series against South Africa.
Only six months after being appointed in April 2024, Gary Kirsten quit earlier this year as the whiteball coach for Pakistan.
In April 2024, the PCB hired the former South African cricket player as its white-ball head coach for a two-year term.
Just prior to Pakistan’s November tour of Australia, Garry Kirsten resigned, and Jason Gillespie was named the replacement coach for the white-ball series against Australia.
Prior to the just-finished Zimbabwe tour, former Pakistani bowler Aqib Javed was later named the national team’s temporary white-ball coach.
