Following the Apex Committee’s decision, checkpoints are being set up on Parachinar Road.

In response to recent directives by the Apex Committee, the provincial government has begun erecting 48 checkpoints along Tal-Parachinar Road.

The provincial government has been following the Apex Committee’s directives to bring law and order back to Kurram, according to an official document. The committee made the decision to destroy all private bunkers by February 1. Checkpoint posts will take their place, and 399 former service members will staff them.

The federal government has made the decision to create a special protection force made up of ex-service members.

Last month, the KP Apex Committee made the decision to demolish all private bunkers in Kurram district in order to bring peace back to the area.

The district administration and police will demolish the bunkers, according to the paper.

Within 15 days, the fighting factions would turn in their weapons, and a list of all the weapons gathered would be created, per the Apex Committee’s ruling.

Monitoring the weapons collection would fall under the purview of the district administration. The government would also offer locals the opportunity to sell guns. In Kurram, a dedicated desk for registering guns would be set up.

On Friday, the provincial apex committee made the decision to remove the bunkers in Kurram district in order to maintain tranquility in the unstable area.

CONVOY NOT TO RECOMMENCE JOURNEY YET

The convoy, which left Tal on Saturday to bring necessities to Parachinar, has not yet resumed its journey. When attackers fired on the car carrying Kurram Deputy Commissioner Javedullah Mehsud, the convoy of over 80 trucks delivering food and other necessities was forced to halt its advance.

Five people were hurt in the attack, including Mehsud.

There would be a curfew along the route, according to the police, and the convoy will begin its trek on Monday.

Mehsud, who has been receiving hospital treatment, was replaced by Ashfaq Khan as the DC Office’s manager by the provincial government. Section 144 has already been enforced in the tense area.
