For a new bench formation, Nikkah’s acquittal pleas in the Iddat case were sent to IHC CJ.

Chief Justice Aamer Farooq has been asked to establish a fresh bench after the Islamabad High Court (IHC) referred appeals contesting the acquittal of Bushra Bibi and the PTI Chairman.

The appeals were considered by Additional Judge Justice Azam Khan and were filed by Khawar Maneka.

In the courtroom, attorneys Zahid Asif Chaudhry, Iqbal Kakar, and others represented the petitioner, while Ali Bukhari, Shoaib Shaheen, and Niazullah Niazi represented the PTI Chairman.

The appeals were submitted in response to the July 2024 ruling of an Additional Sessions Judge.

During the hearing, Advocate Shoaib Shaheen claimed that Justice Azam Khan had already voiced a biased opinion and asked that the case be moved to a different bench.

The matter was not pre-judged by Justice Azam Khan, who noted that he had just considered a review petition against an order.

In order to assemble a new bench, the court referred the case to Chief Justice Aamer Farooq when the defense attorney objected.

For additional procedures, the appeal file has been formally turned over to the Chief Justice.
