Former Supreme Court Justice Azmat Saeed Sheikh has passed away.

Former Supreme Court Justice Azmat Saeed Sheikh has died in Lahore.

Justice (Retd) Azmat Saeed Sheikh had been in poor health for an extended period and was receiving medical care at a hospital, as reported by his relatives.

He held the position of Supreme Court judge from 2012 to 2019 and was formerly the chief justice of the Lahore High Court. He was also a member of the panel that adjudicated the Panama Papers case.

Upon obtaining his LLB, he commenced his legal practice in Rawalpindi in 1978. In 1980, he relocated to Lahore and acquired experience in several law chambers before being admitted as an Advocate of the Lahore High Court and the Supreme Court of Pakistan in 1981.

Justice Azmat Saeed was appointed as a permanent judge of the Supreme Court on June 1, 2012, with Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry delivering the oath of office.
