FUUAST tuition increase: SHC withholds judgment

Students from the FUUAST Law Department protested a 50% increase in fees by moving the SHC.

In their performance, the students claimed that although the legislation permits annual tuition increases of up to 10%, the fees have been raised by 50% due to “verbal orders.”

The request went on to say that the fee schedules for several departments had been changed, and the significant hike had left students with difficulties.

Previously, the Lahore High Court (LHC) ruled that increases in tuition for study programs at private medical colleges were unlawful.

After considering appeals contesting the private medical institutions’ cost increases for continuing programs, Justice Shahid Jameel rendered his verdict.

LHC gave Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) instructions to make sure that the students enrolled in the relevant program pay the fees that were agreed upon.
