Heavy fog causes traffic jams on Punjab’s highways.
During the night of Thursday and Friday, dense fog once more engulfed a number of Punjabi cities, interfering with traffic and immobilizing daily life.
Dense fog has blanketed Lahore and other parts of Punjab, making daily life extremely difficult. There has been a disruption in airline operations at Lahore Airport and the closure of many road segments.
In addition, the fog engulfed Gujranwala, Faisalabad, Multan, and other cities, making it difficult for drivers to navigate the roadways and reducing visibility on national routes.
A spokeswoman for the Motorway police said that all traffic has been prohibited from using Motorway M2, which runs from Lahore to Kot Momin; M3, which runs from Lahore to Jaranwal; M4, which runs from Pindi Bhattian to Faisalabad; and M11, which runs from Lahore to Sialkot.
Drivers are encouraged to travel on Grand Trunk (GT) Road by the motorway police. Drivers have also been advised to turn on fog lights and drive more slowly.
People have also been warned by the Motorway police to stay at home and refrain from needless travel. Traffic has also been hampered by dense fog in a number of locations across the nation on national routes because of poor visibility.
The Lahore airport has also seen flight operations disruptions due to the thick fog. Visibility problems forced many flights to be diverted to Islamabad.
The itinerary of other departing flights has also been changed, and they will be permitted to take off as the visibility improves.
