In Balochistan, the NDMA has issued a high alert for flash floods and heavy rainfall.

A high alert for flash floods in Balochistan was issued by the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) on Thursday. A private news station said that the Pakistan Meteorological Department and NDMA have warned that the province’s southern and eastern areas would experience heavy rains in the coming 24 to 48 hours. Heavy downpours are expected in Lasbela, Hub, Khuzdar, Awaran, Barkhan, Sui, Sibi, Dera Bugti, Naseerabad, Kohlu, Kalat, Zhob, Kech, Gwadar, Pasni, Ormara, Surab and southern Washuk. Authorities warned that infrastructure and local residents could be seriously threatened by the downpour. Flash flooding is quite likely to occur in seasonal streams and rivers in Wadh, Khuzdar, Bela, Ormara, and Hingol Valley, according to officials. Villages close to streams are most at risk from the rushing water, which can harm mud dwellings, crops, fields, and rural roads. Local administrations have been directed by the NDMA to set up emergency shelters, send out rescue teams, and be prepared to reopen roads in impacted areas. People have been warned to avoid needless travel, particularly in areas that are vulnerable to flooding, and to stay away from trees, electrical poles, and other unstable objects.
