In Islamabad, two restaurants were closed due to tax evasion.

Point-of-sale (POS) tracking software was employed to identify the establishments, as per the Regional Tax Office Islamabad, which verified the issuance of counterfeit receipts.

As a consequence of their fraudulent activities, both restaurants were closed and each were assessed a sanction of Rs 500,000.

Tier 1 retailers and restaurants in Islamabad were initially the focus of the Point of Sale Reward Scheme, which was recently implemented by the FBR on October 25. This program is designed to promote compliance within the tax net and provides incentives for citizens to report fraudulent invoices.

The initiative will be extended nationwide beginning next month, rewarding customers who report fraudulent invoices through the Tax Asaan application, a smart application designed to assist Pakistani taxpayers.

FBR will promptly seal businesses that are found to be involved in the issuance of fake sales receipts, and cash rewards will be transferred directly to informants’ bank accounts, following verification.
