In the Shandana Gulzar case, FIA sends a letter to the NA speaker.

Regarding the Shandana Gulzar issue, the Speaker of the National Assembly received a letter from the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA).

The letter was sent on Monday, according to FIA sources, which is a significant development in the current inquiry.

The Sunni Unity Council’s representative in the National Assembly, Shandana Gulzar, has become entangled in a scandal after being charged with a number of offenses, including inciting a rebellion on social media.

The main focus of the issue is an alleged audio leak that implicates Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif and supposedly mentions the name of Zille Shah, a slain Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) activist. According to sources, Gulzar, who represents NA 30, is the subject of an investigation that is presently ongoing.

Moreover, Gulzar is charged with spreading material that allegedly stirs up hostility toward the government and its officials. The allegation has been brought to the attention of the FIA, which has summoned Gulzar to appear before Lahore authorities on March 14. Interestingly, the Speaker of the National Assembly has received a copy of the warning.

Section 5(2) of the Majlis Shura Privileges, Immunities Act 2023 is cited by FIA officials in their letter to the Speaker as the legal foundation for the notification. A senior FIA officer stressed to Sama the need of compliance, warning that noncompliance with two successive letters might lead to legal action.

The FIA opened proceedings against Gulzar as a result of an application submitted by activist for the PML-N, Shoaib Mirza, which led to the summons.

All eyes are on the events surrounding this high-profile case as it plays out.

The accusations originate from a petition that Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz (PML-N) worker Shoaib Mirza filed against her.
