India’s response to the mutual defense pact between Saudi Arabia and Pakistan
Reports of a strategic mutual defense agreement between Saudi Arabia and Pakistan have prompted a cautious response from India, which stated that it is aware of the development and will carefully consider its implications for regional and national security.

Indian External Affairs spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal stated Wednesday that the administration had been closely monitoring reports of the accord in response to questions from the media.
“There have been rumors that Saudi Arabia and Pakistan have signed a strategic mutual defense pact,” Jaiswal stated.
Formalizing what he called a long-standing agreement between Riyadh and Islamabad, he added that New Delhi was aware that this development had been discussed for some time.

The Indian government made it clear that the defense accord would be thoroughly examined in order to determine its broader implications.
Jaiswal emphasized that India is still 100 percent dedicated to protecting its strategic interests and stated, “We will study the implications of this development for our national security as well as for regional and global stability.”
