Jason Gillespie is “confident” in Babar Azam’s powerful return.
On Thursday, Jason Gillespie, Pakistan’s red-ball head coach, stated his belief that star batsman Babar Azam can make a good return in all forms.
Babar’s poor recent performances have put him under intense scrutiny. A disappointing home Test series against Bangladesh last month saw him fall out of the top ten in the ICC Test Batting Rankings, managing a pitiful 64 runs in four innings.
Following his 35-run two-inning performance in the opening Test match against England, he was left from the team for the rest of the series.
After Babar was substituted, Kamran Ghulam, a reliable domestic player, seized the chance and smashed a century in his debut innings, which proved crucial in Pakistan’s 152-run triumph over England in the second Test.
On his comeback, Babar Azam is expected to continue playing a “huge role” for the Green Shirts and scoring a lot of runs, according to Pakistan head coach Jason Gillespie.
Once more, I do. Being a selector, I am unable to respond to that question. I will state, however, that Babar is a superb player. He is, in my opinion, among the world’s top players. I don’t think many great players in the world have never experienced a lean period, but yes, he did have one. Gillespie commented.
“I have great confidence. Babar Will will return to play for Pakistan and score a lot of runs in all formats. The player is simply too skilled. His game is something he works so hard at. He prepares himself and knows exactly what he needs to do to get ready. He continued, “I absolutely anticipate him playing a significant role for Pakistan in the near future.”
