K-IV project in Karachi would be finished in its first stage by 2025.
Significant work was underway on this project, sources said, adding that stage 1 would supply Karachi with 260 million gallons per day (MGD).
They further stated that stage-2 would provide Karachi with 390 MGD of water. Undertaking this significant project was the Water and Power Development Authority.
After the two phases were finished, they promised to supply Karachi with 650 MGD in total. Approximately forty billion of the project’s 126 billion rupees have already been spent.
It is relevant to note that the K-IV water supply project was approved in 2014 by the Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) government. The project was initially budgeted for Rs849 million in the 2014–15 budget, with the PPP government contributing 50% of the project’s cost, totaling Rs25.552 billion.
