Karachiites’ power tariff is increased by NEPRA.
Fuel adjustments for May and June resulted in a rise in the price of electricity by Rs 5.75 per unit. Bills for October and November will include charges for KE’s customers.
By Rs 2.59 per unit for the fuel adjustment in May and Rs 3.17 per unit for the fuel adjustment in June, the price of electricity has increased, according per NEPRA’s notification.
Over Rs. 10 billion more is anticipated to be burdened by Karachiites as a result of the rise in energy costs for KE customers.
The request for a provisional monthly fuel charge adjustment (FCA) from KE was heard by the NEPRA on July 30. After careful consideration, the regulatory body made a determination about KE’s proposals for FCA at PKR 2.53 and PKR 2.92 per kWh for May and June of 2024.
The NEPRA had earlier on August 8 declared a Rs 2.56 per unit increase in the price of power. Consumers will notice the additional costs on their August bills, as per the NEPRA letter. The increase is part of the monthly fuel adjustment for the month of June.
Customers of Lifeline or K Electric were not affected by the hike.
