LHC says that ECP’s order to recount votes in NA-97 is not valid.

The case of MNA Saadullah from the Sunni Ittehad Council was heard by a single bench of the high court, which was led by Justice Shams Mehmood Mirza. It was against the Election Commission of Pakistan’s order to count the votes in NA-97.

The seven-page verdict on Saadullah’s petition challenging the ECP’s order to recount was read by Justice Shams Mehmood Mirza of the LHC.

The bench agreed with the petition and threw out the ECP’s order to count the votes again in that district.

The bench said, “The election commission has not been given the power to order recounting of votes after the results have been compiled,” The ECP’s order to recount was made after the results were compiled, the court said.

The PML-N candidate Ali Gohar asked the ECP to count all the votes in the NA-97 Faisalabad poll, which they did.
