More than 150,000 non-filer SIM cards were blocked. FBR
According to specifics, the FBR attested to the blocking of 150,000 non-filer SIM cards, and it regularly provides the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) with data pertaining to 5,000 non-filers.
According to the spokeswoman, after filing their income tax returns, non-filers can get their SIM cards back.
After the taxpayers made their tax payments and were added to the list of current taxpayers, 18,902 SIM cards have been reactivated to date, the spokeswoman continued.
The FBR representative had earlier refuted claims that tax filers’ SIM cards were being blocked, saying that there was no mechanism in place to support such a move.

Currently, over 506,671 taxpayers nationwide have been recognized as non-compliant; as a result, the authorities have been called upon by the FBR to restrict their SIM cards through the issuance of an income tax general order.
The FBR found over 506,671 people who were not on the FBR Active Tax Payer List but were nevertheless able to file income tax forms, according to the information.
These people have not paid their taxes even though they are qualified, according to an FBR representative.
In addition to threatening tax evaders with the SIM card being stopped at any time if they don’t file their returns, the FBR has started taking legal action against noncompliant taxpayers.
If taxpayers refuse to file their tax returns, the FBR will take immediate action against them and warn them of the repercussions, which include having their SIM card blocked.
