On February 28, the Ruet-e-Hilal Committee will gather in Peshawar to observe the Ramadan moon.

On Friday, February 28 (29th Shaban), the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee would gather in Peshawar on the evening to sight the moon for Ramazan-ul-Mubarak 1446 AH.

Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad, the head of the Ruet-e-Hilal Committee, will chair the meeting. The gathering was held in Peshawar by the government with the goal of a united beginning to the holy month throughout Pakistan.

While zonal and district Ruet-e-Hilal Committees will meet concurrently at their respective headquarters, the meeting will take place at the Auqaf Department building in Peshawar, according to the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony.

The meeting of the Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Zonal Ruet-e-Hilal Committee will take place in the federal capital at the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony.

Although zonal Ruet-e-Hilal committees would meet separately in their respective areas, the central body will make the final decision regarding moon sightings.

However, according to a prediction by the Pakistan Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (SUPARCO), the Ramazan moon would be seen on March 1. Consequently, Ramazan will start on March 2.

The new moon will be born on February 28, 2025, at 05:45 PST, according to SUPARCO. By sunset on that day, the moon will be 12 hours old and 5 degrees above the ground. The crescent will be hard to see because of its distance and low height. According to the spokesperson, a sighting should occur when the moon is 19 hours old.
