The district of Nankana Sahib has declared a local holiday.
To commemorate Baba Guru Nanak, the founder of Sikhism, his 555th birthday, the deputy commissioner of Nankana Sahib has announced November 15 a public holiday throughout the district.
Regarding this, Deputy Commissioner Taslim Akhtar Rao has released a notification. November 13–16 will be the dates of the birth anniversary festivities.
Baba Guru Nanak’s birthplace, Nankana Sahib, is anticipated to attract thousands of Sikh pilgrims from all across Pakistan and the world for the festivities.
The district government has worked with the appropriate authorities to make sure that everyone attending, especially the many foreign guests, has a safe and easy day.
In order to assess security arrangements for Sikh pilgrims attending the approaching 555th birth anniversary celebrations of Baba Guru Nanak at Gurdwara Janam Asthan, Punjab Minister for Minority Affairs Sardar Ramesh Singh Arora and Home Secretary Noorul Amin Mengal visited Nankana Sahib last week.
They examined important municipal entrances and exits during their visit and gave the required instructions to improve security. Using the control room, Deputy Commissioner Tasleem Akhtar Rao and District Police Officer Syed Nadeem Abbas informed the home secretary and minister about the security measures.
Arora stated that between November 13 and 16, about 60,000 Sikh pilgrims from all over the world were anticipated to visit Nankana Sahib. The pilgrims would thereafter travel to other important locations, such as Lahore, Kartarpur, Eimanabad, Hassan Abdal, Sheikhupura, and Farooqabad.
