Outgoing CJP Qazi Faez Isa’s full court reference is skipped by six SC judges.

Six Supreme Court judges, including Justices Mansoor Ali Shah, Munib Akhtar, Ayesha Malik, Shahid Waheed, Athar Minallah, and Malik Shehzad, opted not to attend the full court reference honoring departing Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Qazi Faez Isa, according to the details.

The Supreme Court justices who usually attend the reference to say goodbye to the outgoing CJP were not as present this time.

Importantly, after more than a year of service, Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Qazi Faez Isa is set to retire today (Friday).

Justice Yahya Afridi, the recently appointed CJP, will be sworn in tomorrow. As the new CJP, President Asif Ali Zardari will give the oath.

In honor of departing Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa, the Pakistan Bar Council and the Supreme Court Bar Association threw a goodbye dinner on Thursday night.

Yahya Afridi, the nominee for Chief Justice, Supreme Court justices, and chief justices from every high court were present at the occasion.

Justice Yahya Afridi was formally appointed as the chief justice earlier this week by President Asif Ali Zardari after Qazi Faez Isa retired on October 25 (today).
