Pakistan and Poland would collaborate in the trade and energy sectors.

On Wednesday, Federal Minister for Commerce Jam Kamal Khan conducted a comprehensive discussion with Poland’s Ambassador to Pakistan, Maciej Pisarski, addressing a broad range of bilateral projects, including trade, investment, energy, mining, and agriculture.
The discussions occurred amidst heightened diplomatic efforts, including recent interactions with ASEAN Ambassadors and continued collaboration with Saudi Arabia on a trade enhancement roadmap, as stated in a news release from the commerce ministry.
Minister Khan praised the presence of Poland’s premier energy firm ORLEN (previously the Polish Oil and Gas Company), characterizing it as a “success story” that exemplifies how perseverance and patience yield significant rewards.
Having operated in Pakistan for over 26 years, ORLEN has committed around USD 500 million in exploration and production, primarily in the Sindh–Balochistan region, and intends to quadruple its investment in the forthcoming decade.
Ambassador Pisarski underscored that ORLEN’s new exploratory concessions, including Baran and Sirmazarani West, near to its existing activities in the Kirtan Mountains, are exceptionally promising.
The Ambassador also addressed the outstanding concerns that require resolution to further mutual interests. Minister Khan told him that Pakistan would coordinate with the pertinent authorities to bolster investor confidence and ensure seamless operations.
The two parties deliberated on emulating Poland’s successful transformation of its apple business into a year-round export enterprise in Pakistan.
Minister Khan urged Polish companies to collaborate with Pakistani public and private sectors to develop cold storage, preservation, waxing, grading, and warehousing facilities in Gilgit-Baltistan and Balochistan. He referenced the EDF’s successful solar-powered chili drying initiative as an illustration of the fund’s capacity to expedite similar projects.
Ambassador Pisarski endorsed the plan, highlighting Poland’s proficiency in warehouse technology, phytosanitary protocols, and logistics, which might diminish transportation expenses and enhance export quality.
