Pakistan and Saudi Arabia ought to lead the Islamic world: Fazl

— On Thursday, Maulana Fazlur Rehman, the leader of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F), expressed his satisfaction with the defense pact that Saudi Arabia and Pakistan had inked. He underlined that two nations ought to lead the Islamic world in its direction.

Speaking at a peace march, Maulana Fazlur Rehman urged Muslim nations to come together. He emphasized that a firm position should be taken on the Palestinian issue and pointed out that discussions over the occupation of Palestine are still going on. “JUI-F stands with their Palestinian brothers,” he said.

Furthermore, according to Fazlur Rehman, the Islamic Summit in Doha represents a step toward the creation of an Islamic bloc. Instead of discouraging the conference, he called for support.

The leader of the JUI-F added that Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam represents the Muslim Ummah as a whole, not simply Pakistan. He said that there is no indication of peace in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and stated that the party has fought for the rights of the people in every province.

In closing, Maulana Fazlur Rehman stated that instability is rife in Balochistan and that, despite their reluctance to march towards Islamabad, the attitude of the government is compelling them to do so.
