Revealed by the National Electronic Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA), Pakistan’s power sector resulted in a Rs403 billion deficit in FY2022-23.
The NEPRA published a progress report on the distribution companies, including K-Electric, showing nine of them failed to reach a 100pc recovery.
The report stated the line losses and inadequate recoveries resulted in losses of Rs403 bln to the national kitty. According to the investigation, the businesses did not purchase the allocated share of the electricity.
The businesses doing loadshedding “deliberately” since they are not purchasing electricity in line with their quotas, the investigation claimed.
