Pakistan brings up Majeed Brigade and the TTP’s ban to the UN Security Council.

During the UN Security Council meeting, Munir Akram, Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the UN, emphasised Pakistan’s security concerns and questioned why international talks on terrorism threats frequently ignore the risks Pakistan confronts.

In order to better combat terrorism, he encouraged the UN General Assembly to create a specialised organisation.

Pakistan expressed worries about Majeed Brigade and the outlawed Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) at the meeting, highlighting the danger posed by terrorist organisations based in Afghanistan. Pakistan’s position that the Afghan interim government must carry out its duties and stop its territory from being exploited for attacks against Pakistan was reaffirmed by Munir Akram.

Evidence of Afghan citizens participating in terrorist activities within Pakistan has been provided by Pakistani officials. An Afghan national was recently identified as the terrorist who was slain in a confrontation with security troops in the Datta Khel region of North Waziristan. The deceased, named Luqman Khan alias Nusrat, was confirmed to be a resident of the Spera district in Khost province, Afghanistan. According to the Pakistan Army spokesperson, efforts are underway to return his body to Afghan authorities.

Pakistan once again urged the international community to take effective measures against terrorism and hold Afghanistan accountable for ensuring that its territory is not used for cross-border attacks.
