Pakistan has officially begun its tenure as a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) for 2025-26.
In an address to diplomats, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar lauded the accomplishment as a notable accolade for the nation.
“We appreciate the trust and support of the United Nations member states,” Dar stated, underscoring Pakistan’s dedication to fostering global peace and security.
The Deputy Prime Minister reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to adhering to the UN Charter and tackling urgent global issues. Emphasizing significant concerns, he stated, “The world confronts various challenges, notably the severe human rights conditions in Gaza.”
He emphasized the necessity of resolving the Kashmir dispute in alignment with UN resolutions, confirming Pakistan’s position on this enduring problem.
