Pakistan dismisses the declaration by chosen UN experts over human rights issues.

Ambassador Shafqat Ali Khan, spokesperson for the Foreign Office (FO), stated on Wednesday that Pakistan has categorically dismissed a statement released by specific United Nations (UN) human rights experts, deeming it “selective and unverified.”

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, through spokesperson Ambassador Shafqat Ali Khan, condemned the remarks, asserting that they were unbalanced and did not consider the complete context of the nation’s security situation.

“We acknowledge the press release disseminated by specific UN experts, which seems to rely on selective and unverified media accounts,” stated Ambassador Khan. “Public statements of this nature must adhere to objectivity, eschew selective criticism, ensure factual accuracy, and recognize the complete context of the situation.”

The spokesman voiced apprehension regarding the purported absence of proportionality in the statements made by UN experts, alleging that they minimized civilian losses resulting from terrorist assaults while neglecting the offenses perpetrated by individuals who undermine public services and generate insecurity.

Ambassador Khan stated that the individuals involved were not simply demonstrators but were actively participating in lawlessness and violence, frequently collaborating with terrorists. He referenced a recent occurrence in Quetta, where aggressive protesters invaded the District Hospital and forcibly appropriated the remains of five terrorists who were slain during the Jaffar Express hostage rescue operation.

He stated that the police had recovered three of these bodies.

He further emphasised that international human rights law does not allow individuals or groups to misuse rights to infringe upon the security and safety of others. He asserted that international law strongly upholds the right of sovereign governments to undertake authorized and necessary measures to preserve public order and safeguard their populations.

Ambassador Khan reiterated Pakistan’s dedication to safeguarding its citizens, especially in areas impacted by terrorism. He emphasized that the government is committed to social and economic advancement for all communities, irrespective of ethnic or religious affiliation, however cautioned that terrorism and its facilitators represent an ongoing threat to this progress.

“The actions implemented by the Government are entirely in accordance with international law, which unequivocally forbids incitement to violence and terrorism,” he stated. “There shall be no tolerance, nor impunity, for terrorists, their facilitators, or their accomplices.”

The spokeswoman emphasized that institutional and legal avenues are entirely available for citizens pursuing constitutional remedies. He reiterated Pakistan’s dedication to constructive conversation with UN Special Procedures Mandate Holders, underscoring interaction founded on mutual respect, objectivity, and factual accuracy.
